No day in Parliament is the same and every MP is involved in different aspects of Parliamentary life.
As part of my role as an MP, I'm a member of the following committees and All Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs):
Welsh Affairs Committee
The Welsh Affairs Committee is responsible for scrutinising the expenditure, administration and policies of the Wales Office, and the policies of the UK Government as a whole that have an impact in Wales.
Having previously been a member of the committee from March 2020 - June 2022, I'm delighted to be a member again.
Petitions Committee
The petitions committee was created to engage the public directly with the work of the House of Commons by looking at e-petitions submitted on petition.parliament.uk and public (paper) petitions presented to the House of Commons.
MPs don't decide what's discussed in the committee, the public do, but in debates members of the committee are asked to introduce petitions. As we are introducing the debate on behalf of the public when we are doing so we attempt to capture views from the petitioners and interested parties such as charities and campaign organisations.
I've been lucky enough to present a number of petitions from members of the public on issues ranging from free prescriptions, to updating the equality act.
Procedure Committee
The Procedure Committee considers the practice and procedure of the House in the conduct of public business.
