Tonia Antoniazzi, the Member of Parliament for Gower, is urging permanent residents of local park homes to apply for the £150 Warm Home Discount scheme, operated by Charis.

Under this initiative, eligible park home residents who do not have a direct relationship with an energy supplier, and instead pay their electricity bills through site owners, can access financial support in the form of £150 payments. The Park Homes Warm Home Discount is a multi-supplier program generously funded by EON Next, approved and regulated by Ofgem.

Applying for the scheme is made easy through an online application process, designed in partnership with Lightning Reach. To access this valuable support, applicants must select the 'Park home / static caravan / mobile home' option under their housing status on the Lightning Reach portal.

Tonia Antoniazzi MP emphasized the importance of this opportunity, stating, "Throughout Gower, residents living in park homes may be eligible for £150 payments to assist with energy costs. This support could make a significant difference in the lives of many, so I urge those who believe they qualify to apply promptly."

Funding for this initiative is limited, and applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis until all allocated funds are exhausted. Successful applicants can expect their payments to be deposited directly into their bank accounts by the end of March 2024. Specific eligibility criteria apply, requiring applicants to be permanent park home residents who either receive government support or benefits or have a household income below £18,723.

Jonathan Hunt, Director of Client Services at Charis, highlighted the importance of recognizing this often overlooked segment energy users, "There is a sector of society living off the grid that often gets overlooked by the usual support systems but still meets the criteria required for financial and practical help. They might not be aware that they are eligible for a Warm Home Discount and are facing significant pressures, despite help being out there."

Charis Grants Ltd. is a privately owned company established in 2003 to facilitate the distribution of funds and grants by energy companies, charities, housing associations, and other organizations, including Citizens Advice, to provide assistance to vulnerable individuals within the community.
