Residents from across Swansea came together for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer support on Friday.

Tonia Antoniazzi and Rebecca Evans, the Member of Parliament and Member of the Senedd for Gower respectively, hosted the fundraising coffee morning on the 30th September at the New Lodge in Gorseinon which raised over £300.

Both were joined by residents from across Gower as well as PCSOs, and Penyrheol Councillors Jan Curtice, Andrew Stevens and Nicola Matthews, Pontlliw Councillor Victoria Holland and Llwchwr Councillor Adam Davis.

Tonia Antoniazzi, Member of Parliament for Gower said “It was lovely to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones too and I’m looking forward to doing more in person events in the constituency again!

“As Chair of the APPG on Cancer, I will continue to ensure the 3 million people living with cancer in the UK have their experiences heard in Parliament.

“It has been a fabulous occasion so thank you to everyone who came, baked a cake or donated to this worthy cause.

“One in three of us will get cancer in our lifetime, and Macmillan’s goal is to make sure no one faces cancer alone.

Rebecca Evans, Member of the Senedd for Gower said, “A huge ‘thank you’ must go to everyone who supported the coffee morning - either by coming along for a cuppa and a chat, or by putting their baking skills to work and making some amazing creations.

“Thank you, too, to Macmillan for all the wonderful work that they do, including offering money advice to people affected by cancer and their families. This will be a welcome source of help for many people during the cost of living crisis.”

Macmillan’s Chief Executive, Lynda Thomas, added: “Every penny raised at a coffee morning will help fund more services for people affected by cancer. Your involvement - no matter how small - means there will be enough practical, medical, financial and emotional support to help to change the lives of everyone affected by cancer for the better. And for that, we think you should feel good!”

There's no right or wrong way to take part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. Whether you throw your own coffee morning, roll out the tea trolley at work for elevenses with colleagues or lay on a glamorous coffee-themed cocktail evening, it really is up to you. The important thing is everyone who takes part has a great time whilst making a difference.
