Tonia Antoniazzi, Member of Parliament for Gower met with businesses owners on Tuesday, 13th February, at an event aimed at supporting local businesses on the High Street in Gorseinon.
The drop in event, which was organized in collaboration with Tonia Antoniazzi MP, Gorseinon Town Council and the Swansea City Councillors for Gorseinon and Penyrheol, provided a platform for business owners to engage directly with their elected representatives and discuss issues effecting the high street. The event aimed to address concerns, gather feedback, and explore opportunities for growth within Gorseinon. The event also featured a representative from Swansea Council who was on hand to offer insights and advice on available grants and business support services. Speaking after the event, Mayor of Gorseinon Town Council, Carlo Rabaiotti said, "We are proud of our High Street in Gorseinon. That’s why we want to have these open and honest conversations so we as a Town Council can better understand the challenges faced by our local businesses. We want to see our High Street prospering, so we encourage our residents to shop local and support our brilliant independent businesses." Nicola Matthews, Councillor for Gorseinon and Penyrheol said, "I want to extend my thanks to all the business owners who attended, as well as Swansea Council for sending a representative from Business Swansea to meet with residents. Our local businesses are the backbone of our community, and they need support from elected representatives as well as consumers if we want to help them thrive." Tonia Antoniazzi MP said, "I am delighted to have hosted this Business Drop-In event in my constituency office, bringing together local businesses, councillors, and the community to discuss the issues that matter most to them so thank you to everyone who has contributed." “People in Gower will obviously be concerned about the future of our High Streets and the state of the country’s finances after it emerged the UK economy is in recession last week.” “Our economy is now smaller than when Rishi Sunak entered 10 Downing Street in 2022 and more than fourteen years of economic decline under the Conservatives has left Britain worse off. The Prime Minister needs to be honest with my constituents, accept that his plan is not working. “This is Rishi Sunak’s recession, and the news will be deeply worrying for families and business across Britain.” Comments are closed.
